Wednesday Community Meal

Church of Our Savior has been blessed with a vibrant ministry called the Wednesday Community Meal.  Each Wednesday, a group of very dedicated regular volunteers from Church of Our Savior, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and First Christians Church plan and serve a meal for between 80 and 125 hungry people in the North Platte community.

If you would like to get involved, two shifts are available: preparation time, 2:00-4:00 p.m., and serving and clean-up, 4:00-6:30 p.m. Additionally, after the meal, we often deliver leftover food to people in need and other organizations who will use the food so that it will not go to waste.  You could come for the whole afternoon or only a portion, your choice!

For quite some time now, the Wednesday Community Meal has been expanding.  Recently, we were placed on the list of community organizations who accept food donations from Walmart, which has helped greatly to keep the cost of each meal down (we are able to create a meal for about $1.00/plate).  A group of COS men regularly go to the food distribution site and bring the food back to the church.

We invite all to get involved in this important ministry of Church of Our Savior as we answer Jesus’ call to feed the hungry. All are welcome!
